Multifactor Authentication (MFA) Frequently Asked Questions

Can I opt out of having MFA Challenge Questions and not use this level of security?

Federal law requires that all financial institutions implement MFA to protect consumers, therefore you cannot opt out.

What if I cannot remember my Challenge Question answer?

If you have forgotten the answer to your Challenge Question, please contact DFCU Financial at 313.336.2700, or 888.336.2700 and press 52 to speak to an online representative during normal business hours.

I want to select new Challenge Questions and answers. What do I do?

Simple log in to DFCU OnLine and click on Security Settings in the left side navigation. The Security Settings page not only allows you to choose new Challenge Questions, but you may also change your “Image and Phrase” or upgrade to a higher security device.

Can I choose my own Challenge Questions?

At this point in time, you may not choose your own Challenge Questions. You will need to select one of the questions in the selection box.

If the answer to one of my Challenge Questions is a date, what format should I use?

It does not matter what format is used when entering a date for a Challenge Question answer, but you will need to remember the format that you used when answering the question initially.

If I reset my Challenge Questions, what is the best way to complete this task?

Here is the suggested steps to follow when resetting your Challenge Questions:

  • Choose your first Challenge Question
  • Type the answer in the TextPad
  • Review your answer in the TextPad
  • Click “enter” to register the answer to Challenge Question 1.
  • Choose your second Challenge Question
  • Type the answer in the TextPad
  • Review your answer in the TextPad
  • Click “enter” to register the answer to Challenge Question 2.
  • Choose your third Challenge Question
  • Type the answer in the TextPad
  • Review your answer in the TextPad
  • Click “enter” to register the answer to Challenge Question 3.

What do I need to know if I use an account aggregation service?

DFCU Financial does not offer account aggregation services.  Any change in account structure may affect the accessibility through an account aggregator service.  If this is an issue, contact your account aggregator for a possible solution.
