Bill Pay Security

We are increasing the Security of Online Bill Pay.

Suppose a virus or spyware attacks your PC and captures your bill pay username and password; or, you could become the unsuspecting victim of a sophisticated e-mail phishing scheme; or, your teenager brings home a new acquaintance that cleverly discovers your password taped to the bottom of your keyboard. Any one of these scenarios can arm a perpetrator with enough information to set up and execute fraudulent transactions using your bill pay funding accounts.

DFCU Financial is committed to keeping your financial transactions as secure as possible. Beginning February 1, 2007, state-of-the-art technology is working behind the scenes to increase the security of your bill payment transactions. To help prevent potential bill payment fraud, the system will review pending payments and compare them to your bill payment patterns, as well as current fraud trends. This information will be updated as your payments change over time. If the system detects a variation in your bill pay pattern, it will provide our experienced fraud representatives the opportunity to review the payment.

During this process a representative may need to call you to ensure your payment is valid. We will verify your name and address and we will not ask you for your social security number. If it is found to be fraudulent, the payment will be prevented from processing and the impact of additional fraud activity will be reduced.

If you receive a call asking about a scheduled bill payment, please take a moment to talk to our experienced fraud representatives to verify your bill payment account activity.
