We’ve Built More Than Branches
According to DFCU Financial President and CEO Mark Shobe, these new branches offer convenience for those we serve. Said Shobe, “While larger banks are reducing the number of branch locations they build, credit unions are adding branches to be where our members need us. With convenience comes a deeper relationship with these current and potential members and the community.”
Giving Back Right Away
As part of the grand opening efforts, DFCU is donating $10,000 to both the Taylor Foundation of Educational Excellence and the Birmingham Education Foundation. These organizations provide much- needed support to classrooms through teacher-requested grants.
"The Taylor Public School Foundation for Educational Excellence's mission is to assist and supplement District programs and projects which include scholarships to high school seniors; teacher mini-grants; the DECCA and Robotic programs; mini iPad project; and numerous other initiatives,” said Linda Newsome, foundation president. “The Foundation thanks DFCU for the $10,000 which will greatly enhance the Foundation's efforts to fulfill its mission."
The Birmingham Education Foundation’s (BEF) mission is to raise private funds from the community to ensure academic excellence and innovation in the Birmingham Public School District. Each year, the BEF gives more than $100,000 in grants to teachers to fund their ideas, as well as running programming to enhance learning for BPS students.
“The BEF is grateful to DFCU for their incredibly generous $10,000 grant,” says Birmingham Education Foundation Executive Director Alison Hendry. “This grant allows the BEF to continue funding exciting and challenging educational opportunities for our students. Thank you DFCU!”
