Help is here for those who need it.

DFCU Financial offers the Career Transition Program to members who want to enhance their job skills or obtain new or alternative employment opportunities.  This program provides educational assistance for those who may require advanced training in a vocation or trade due to their unique situation in the job market.

Eligible schools:

  • Qualified vocational school
  • Qualified trade school
  • Accredited college 

 

Assistance eligibility: 

  • Member of DFCU Financial for a minimum of 12 months
  • At least 2 years of prior full-time work experience
  • Must maintain membership at DFCU Financial in “good standing 

 

Program guidelines:

  • Maximum assistance per member is $10,000
  • All assistance disbursements must be made within 24 months from the date of first disbursement
  • First disbursement requires class schedule and tuition bill from eligible school. Check will be made payable to the school and the member
  • Future disbursements will require class schedule and tuition bill from eligible school, along with proof of successful completion of previous courses 

 

Loan type:

  • No payments or interest for 24 months
  • Fixed-rate loan for a maximum of 10 years
  • Interest rate will be set at 0.50% below the standard Stafford loan rate in effect at the time the loan begins its repayment period

DFCU Financial has partnered with the State of Michigan and the Michigan Credit Union League to offer our Career Transition Program.  Other Michigan state agencies also support the Career Transition Program through contributions and in-kind services.
