Community Involvement

Investing in Our Communities

At DFCU Financial, we know we can only succeed if the communities we serve are economically healthy.

4.3.2014 Dearborn Ed Foundation ResizedBecause we believe that a proper education is fundamental to a prosperous economic future, we’ve centered our philanthropic efforts on public education in the communities we serve.

Each year, DFCU Financial donates thousands of dollars to public school districts across the state as part of our commitment to support education and help children become financially literate.

We know it’s important for children to learn sound money management skills that will serve them well as adults.  In conjunction with our donations, we work in partnership with local school districts to teach financial literacy in the classroom as well as in our branches.

As part of our community outreach, DFCU Financial also partners with The Henry Ford in Dearborn and Potter Park Zoo in Lansing -- both educational-based institutions that play important roles in teaching our children about the world in which they live.

The Big Read Comes To Dearborn

We at DFCU Financial believe that if you READ, you SUCCEED.  That’s we have invested as the Leader of the Pack sponsor for the Big Read Dearborn, March – May 2014.

The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and to encourage citizens to read for pleasure and enlightenment.  Dearborn Public Library is one of 77 organizations nationwide that received this grant to host a Big Read program in their community.  The Big Read Dearborn, themed Call of the Wild: EmBARKing on Discovery, will focus on Jack London’s classic American novel, Call of the Wild.

A series of events is planned through May 17 for children, teens and adults, including movies, book discussions, lectures, a photo contest and more.  A few of the May activities are listed below. For a complete list and specific locations, visit

A strong community partner, DFCU Financial continually reinvests in its membership and the community with new branches, a no-interest, no-payment Career Transition Program and financial literacy education for all ages. Recently, four DFCU branch employees read excerpts from the Call of the Wild to 250 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at Dearborn area schools.
